Army Veteran John G. Cronin, 74, of Palatine

Funeral services for Army veteran John Cronin, of Palatine, will be held Friday, Jan. 24.

John G. Cronin, 74, who was a 34-year resident of Palatine, passed away peacefully early morning, Monday, Jan. 20.

Memorial visitation will be held on Friday, Jan. 24, from 4 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 7 p.m., at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Hwy., in Palatine. Interment will be private.

John was born Nov. 27, 1939, in Ogden, Utah, the son of the late John Wesley and Lois Stella (nee Cole).

John was a U.S. Army veteran and a graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology. Prior to his retirement in 2002, John had worked in sales and service for Lightnin Corporation for 35 years. 

Beloved husband of 53 years of Faith L. (nee Reinhold) Cronin; loving father of John (Amy) Cronin and Christin (Nori Estrada) Cronin; cherished grandfather of Jennifer L. Cronin and Aaron Connacher; dear brother of Patrick (Carol) Cronin, Katherine (late Ron) Jones, the late Raymond “Spike” Cronin, and the late Laura Thompson. He is also survived by brother-in-law Dean Thompson and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorials in memory of John would be appreciated for the Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, 225 E. Chicago Ave., Chicago, IL 60611
