Memorial visitation for Albert John DeVries, Jr., 92, of Rolling Meadows, will be held Wednesday, Oct. 24, from 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 11 a.m. at Christ the King Lutheran Church, located in Palatine at 100 W. Michigan Avenue. There will be a luncheon in Fellowship Hall following the service.
Born Jan. 11, 1920 in Chicago, Albert passed away Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, surrounded by his family.
A Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy, Albert served as a pilot during WWII in the Pacific. He resided in Nashville, Tennessee for over 30 years and was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Prior to returning to Illinois.
Albert had a lifelong passion for the game of golf, achieving a hole-in-one twice in his lifetime!
He is survived by his daughters, Dianne (Ron) Sever, Linda (David) Nagawiecki and Carol (Tom) Witucki; grandchildren, Brittany Sever, Gretchen (Tom) Farrell, Kyle Sever, Sean McGuire, Garrett McGuire, Daniel Nagawiecki, Emily Hopkins and Eli Hopkins; great-grandchildren, Andrew Farrell, Natalie Farrell, Grady Farrell and Maggie Mae McGuire; and sister, Mary Jane (late Robert) Spark.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents, Albert John Sr. and Minnie (nee Connolly) DeVries.
