Flamm elected Palatine Township Democratic Committeeman

Voters in Tuesday's primary election chose Matt Flamm to be the next Palatine Township Democratic Committeeman. With all 69 precincts reporting, Flamm defeated Justin Sorensen with 62.85 percent of votes cast.

Speaking to supporters at Emmett's Brewing Company in Palatine Tuesday evening, Flamm said, "I am honored that Democrats in Palatine Township have chosen me to be their new representative. I look forward to organizing local progressives and to being their voice."

Flamm thanked Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle for speaking at a fundraiser for Flamm and recording a telephone message to voters on his behalf. "I am very grateful for President Preckwinkle's support," said Flamm.

Flamm also thanked outgoing Township Committeeman Sue Walton. "Sue Walton has been working to build the Democratic Party since before many of us moved to Palatine," said Flamm. "She has taken the Palatine Democrats from nothing to a serious contender in every election. All of us who work in Democratic politics owe a deep debt of gratitude to Sue Walton."

Flamm, 60, has lived in Palatine Township since 1987 with his wife, Betty. They have two daughters, who graduated from Palatine High School. A business and real estate lawyer, Flamm was an organizer in President Obama's 2008 and 2012 campaigns. He also volunteered on the campaigns of Congresswoman Melissa Bean and other local Democrats.
