Democrats to host Fundraiser in Palatine Sunday

The Palatine and Wheeling Township Democratic Organizations will hold their "October Fest" on Sunday, October 20th from 5pm to 8pm at Durty Nellie's West Irish Pub, 180 N. Smith St. in Palatine. The annual Jim Hightower Community Organizing Award will be given to Hugh Brady and Ken Doruff, Co-Chairs of the North/Northwest Suburban Task Force for supportive housing for individuals with mental illness. Governor Patrick Quinn is expected to attend.

Many state and county candidates will attend the dinner to meet local constituents. Invited guests include Senator Dick Durbin, Gov. Quinn, Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle, Sheriff Tom Dart, and State Sen. Michael W. Frerichs, candidate for State Treasurer.  Laddi K. Singh will announce her candidacy for Illinois House District 54 against Republican Tom Morrison.

There will be live music, great food, and the opportunity to meet Democratic candidates for state and local office.Admission is $40.00, with sponsorships available.
