First D15 Foundation "Staff Slam Dunk" charity hoops tourney on Saturday

The DFEF is hosting their first "Staff Slam Dunk" charity basketball tournament, Saturday, April 6, at Winston Campus, 900 E. Palatine Road in Palatine. The tournament tips off at 8:45am.

Attention basketball fans!  Get ready to pack the stands and cheer on your school's team to victory this Saturday!  

The District Fifteen Educational Foundation is gathering 16 teams comprised of school staff members from 14 different schools to compete in the first ever "Staff Slam Dunk" charity basketball tournament this Saturday, April 6, at Winston Campus, 900 E. Palatine Road in Palatine.  The tournament tips off at 8:45am, and concludes with the championship game at noon.

"Staff Slam Dunk" will feature teams from the following schools:

  • Hungting Ridge School
  • Lake Louise School
  • Lincoln School
  • Gray M. Sandborn School
  • Stuart R. Paddock School
  • Virginia Lake School
  • Willow Bend School
  • Winston Campus Elementary School
  • Carl Sandburg Junion High School
  • Walter R. Sundling Junior High School
  • Winston Campus Junion High School
  • John G. Conyers Learning Academy

The teams will be competing for the tournament's grand prize - a $500 grant for the winning school - and for those schools that thought their favorite teahcer's basketball skills needed a boost, they were able to earn an assist by donating to Pennies for Points earning up to 10 pints on the scoreboard before the ball even hits the rim!  

So... come out on Saturday, in your school spiritwear and pack the stands at Winston Campus to help your school win the "Staff Slam Dunk" championship.  Tickets are $1 at the door (children age 2 and under are free).  Refreshments will be available for purchase at the event.

All proceeds from the "Staff Slam Dunk" charity basketball tournament will be used by the District Fifteen Educational Foundation to fund programming throughout District 15 schools.
