Responsible Republicans for Palatine Township

Former Palatine Township Clerk Kevin O’Connell announced a slate of township Trustees, the Responsible Republicans for Palatine Township, including residents Julie Ann Johnson, Jason Hillenbrand, and himself. They will be running in the Republican Primary on Tuesday, February 26th. After years of property tax increases in a bad economy, the board of trustees raising their salaries, and a top heavy burden of supporting small government whose mandate is constantly questioned, it’s time for a change.

Who are the real Repubican fiscal conservatives? 

The Responsible Republican’s slate pledges not to raise the township share of property taxes for at least four years, to vote to rescind the pay increases that the current trustees gave themselves, and to start consolidation efforts to save money while continuing to provide effective services to the residents.

“We want to eliminate all wasteful spending and not add to the burden of our already highly taxed constituents. We will not raise the salaries of any elected officials!” said Hillenbrand.

O’Connell stated “because the current Republican establishment couldn’t get its act together, the taxpayers are wasting money on the bill for this primary.” The slate supported by the Republican committeeman is conveniently being quiet about this. “The Cook County Clerk estimated that this election will cost the taxpayers $125,000” added Johnson. The republican primary is the only reason the polls will be open on February 26th.

The same slate, “Better for Palatine Township” claiming to be fiscally conservative,belongs to the same organization that launched a frivolous petition objection in December. That objection cost the taxpayers of this Township another $3,000 to $5,000 in legal fees alone. How could you support someone who is wasting the Township’s money before even taking office?

“This is another example of reckless fiscal behavior that needs to end,” said O’Connell.
