On Campus: Speaker to Offer Powerful Lesson on DUI

Mark Sterner was just weeks away from his college graduation when a drunk driving accident killed three of his friends and landed him in prison for three felony counts of DUI manslaughter.

Now Sterner will share this powerful lesson with the audience at Harper College when he speaks at 7 p.m. November 6 in the J Building Theatre, J143, Building J of the College’s main campus, 1200 W. Algonquin Road in Palatine. The event is free but a ticket is required for entry.

“The dangers of drinking and driving are something we’ve all been told about, but we may not have heard someone’s personal story before,” said Schaumburg resident Jamie Mahoney, a student at Harper College and president of the Campus Activities Board. “As college students, we can encounter drinking and driving issues almost any night we choose to go to a party, making it more important than ever that we hear stories like Mark’s.”
