Harper College will host an information session on its new Advanced Manufacturing Program at 6 p.m. Monday, December 3 in Room A243, Building A on the main campus, 1200 W. Algonquin Road in Palatine.
The program, launched this fall with an eye on addressing a shortage of skilled workers, places students in paid manufacturing internships as part of their training and allows them to earn industry-endorsed skills certificates in less than a year.
A report by The Manufacturing Institute found that companies cannot fill an estimated 600,000 skilled positions in advanced manufacturing.
