On Campus: Harper Marks Autism Awareness Month with Visit from Bestselling Author

Harper College will welcome David Finch, a McHenry author who chronicled his ongoing journey with Asperger Syndrome in a 2012 memoir, as part of Autism Awareness Month.

David Finch, a McHenry man who chronicled his ongoing journey with Asperger Syndrome in a 2012 bestselling memoir, will visit Harper College to share his story with the public. His talk, at 7 p.m. Monday, April 1 in the College’s Building J Theatre, is free.

Finch had been married for five years when he was diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome – an autism spectrum disorder – and has since committed himself to relentless self-improvement, sometimes to a comical extent.

A former engineer, Finch is now a full-time writer and speaker whose work has appeared in The New York Times, Huffington Post and Slate. He also writes a relationship blog for Psychology Today.
