Greg Cepuran Earns Eagle Scout Award

Greg Cepuran of Palatine recently earned the Eagle Scout Award, joining his older brothers Tony and Brian, who are also Eagle Scouts. Greg’s journey in scouting began in 2001 as Cub Scout in Pack 348. There he earned many awards, Pinewood Derby trophies and the Arrow of Light, the highest award in Cub Scouting.

Greg is a member of Boy Scout Troop 188 in Palatine. He is also a member of Boy Scout Venture Crew 964, which is a Trap Shooting Crew. He held several positions of leadership and earned 38 merit badges.

As a Boy Scout, Greg has had the opportunity to canoe in the Boundary Waters in Minnesota three times, ski, and go on numerous camping trips, including winter camping. He has gone SCUBA Diving with his troop and is a Certified Advanced Open Water SCUBA Diver. This summer he will backpack for a week in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan with other troop members.

Greg did his Eagle Service Project at the Riley Clearbrook Center in Schaumburg, which serves adults who have developmental disabilities. He led a group of 24 volunteers in a renovation of their kitchen- removing old cabinets and floor tiles, installing ceramic tiles and painting. The project involved over 335 hours.

“I learned a lot about leadership doing my Eagle Project,” Greg said. “I realized that good leadership involves a lot of planning. I want to thank all the volunteers. Clearbrook is a great organization and I am glad we could help.”
