Community Rallies Around 3-Year-Old with Rare Liver Cancer

Payton Ryann Felde was diagnosed with Hepatoblastoma shortly after she turned 3 in October. A fundraising campaign, Payton 4 Pennies, is accepting donations to help the Felde family cover medical expenses.

A fundraising campaign has been initiated to benefit 3-year-old Payton Ryann Felde, of Huntley, who was recently diagnosed with stage 4 Hepatoblastoma, a rare pediatric liver cancer affecting less than 1 in a million children.

Family friend Molli Senne shared on Patch's Facebook site that Payton is currently being treated at Lurie’s Children’s Hospital in Chicago. A fundraiser called "Pennies 4 Payton," has been set up at youcaring.com to help the family with medical expenses.

"The current goal is $50,000, although expenses could be even higher," wrote Senne. "Please help the family in this extremely trying time. We would like the family to focus on getting Payton better, and not the associated costs."

More than $24,000 has been raised. To donate, go to Pennies 4 Payton.

The Felde family also keeps an online journal at caringbridge.org documenting Payton's progress. Payton's father, Ryan Felde, is founder of Felde Chiropractic, which has offices at the YMCA in Palatine and in Barrington.

A fundraising event will be held 3-6 p.m. Dec. 7 at John Barleycorn Sports Bar & Restaurant in Schaumburg.
