Palatine Rotary Celebrates 50th Anniversary with New Plaza in Downtown Palatine

The plaza at Plum Grove and Palatine roads will include an electronic community sign, landscaping, benches and personalized bricks purchased by supporters.

The Rotary Club of Palatine is commemorating 50 years of service to the community by sponsoring Rotary Plaza-which will be coming to downtown Palatine. The Village of Palatine also is a partner on the project.

Groundbreaking is expected in early September.

The new green space, to be located at the northeast corner of Plum Grove and Palatine roads, will include beautiful landscaping, benches, an electronic community sign board to announce upcoming events, and personalized bricks dedicated to those who purchase them, said Liz Noe, immediate past president of the Rotary Club of Palatine.

Though the deadline was September 1, the Rotary Club of Palatine will continue to take orders until September 6- at a cost of $100, $250 and $500 based on size of the brick – to be engraved and have guaranteed placement in the initial plaza, Noe said.

Order forms are available at www.palatinerotary.com

Each brick will help to build the foundation of the plaza, and represent support from individuals, families, businesses or organizations.

Bricks also will be sold during the Oktoberfest Celebration, which will be held September 20-September 22.

March of 2014 will mark the official 50th Rotary anniversary, and a dedication of the plaza is slated for March 20, 2014.
