C.A.T.I.F. Block Party to Benefit Children's Advocacy Center

C.A.T.I.F, a local charity which stands for Celebrating All That Is Feminine, will be holding their 3rd third annual block party in downtown Palatine on Sunday, September 8. 

The event is billed as a Family Picnic Rib & Chili Cook-Off. Admission is free, and tickets can be purchased for $1 a piece to enjoy food and games, beverages and entertainment, a dunk tank, children's activities and much more. 

And, if you think you've got supreme grilling skills, you can enter to be a contestant in the cook-off. C.A.T.I.F. will provide the chicken or ribs, and you provide the spices and talent. Winners in different categories will receive a $250 cash prize. 

C.A.T.I.F. has officially been a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization since 2010, and has so far raised $57,000 for various social service organizations throughout the northwest suburbs. 

Just recently, C.A.T.I.F. Vice President Lorrene Conino, who owns Salon Lorrene in Palatine, won $2,500 in the Wella Hairdressers with Heart Charity Challenge.

Conino donated the entire amount back to C.A.T.I.F. with a goal of starting a new grant program for women and at-risk girls - the focus of the non-profit. 

This year's recipient of funds raised at the Family Picnic Rib & Chili Cook-Off will be the Children's Advocacy Center of North and Northwest Cook County. The organization provides wrap-around services for children who have suffered from sexual abuse. 

The 3rd annual block party/Family Picnic Rib & Chili Cook-Off will be held from noon until 6 p.m. on Station Street in downtown Palatine, alongside Lamplighters.
