Xanandu

ArtReach Educational Theatre in partnership with Spotlite Theatrix ProductionCompany is staging  Xanadu. Book
by Douglas Carter Beane.  Music and Lyrics by Jeff Lynne and John
Farrar. Based on the Universal Pictures film with a screenplay by
Richard Danus & Marc Rubel.

 Xanadu will be presented at the Meadows Center Auditorium, 2850 W. Golf Road, Rolling Meadows, Illinois,
on Friday, August 2nd, at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, August 3rd, at 3:00 p.m.
and 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, August 4th at 3:00 p.m. For tickets, please
call630-808-5852. Tickets are $18 at the Door and $16 in Advance.

Xanadu follows
the journey of a magical and beautiful Greek muse, Kira, who descends
from the heavens of Mt. Olympus to Venice Beach, California in 1980 on a
quest to inspire a struggling artist, Sonny, to achieve the greatest
artistic creation of all time - the first ROLLER DISCO! (Hey, it's
1980!) But, when Kira falls into forbidden love with the mortal Sonny,
her jealous sisters take advantage of the situation and chaos abounds.

The
production is being directed by Dan Walsh (of Chicago) with
choreography by Dan Walsh (of Chicago), Anne Santiago (of Los Angeles),
Jonah Parra (of Palatine), Jackie Podgorny (of Inverness), Jamie
Podgorny (of Inverness), Rachel Corrado (of Lake Zuirch), Breton Spiller
(of Mt. Prospect) and Olivia DalPorto (of Lake Zurich). Musical
direction by Samantha Gatwood (of Elk Grove Village).

Principal
cast members include Christina Melgar (of Wheeling) as Kira, Jonah Parra
(of Palatine) as Sonny Malone, Jamey McDunn (of Schaumburg) as Danny,
Madalyn Griseto (of Elk Grove Village) as Melpomene, Lizzie Jassin (of
Wheeling) as Calliope, Dylan DeWiit (of Buffalo Grove) as Hermes/Zeus,
and Matt Goodmanson (of Arlington Heights) as Cyclops/Tubes Singer.

The mission of ArtReach Educational Theatre is
to expose children to all aspects of theatre, music and dance. We
accept any child with a genuine interest in the arts from age 5 through
high school. Beginner to Advanced performing levels are open. All
children are challenged and encouraged. We offer Private Voice Lessons,
Dance and Acting Classes, Advanced Musical Theatre Workshops and Summer
Arts Camp Programs in Palatine.
