Preckwinkle to appear at Flamm fundraiser

Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle will speak in Palatine next Tuesday, February 25th. Preckwinkle will appear at a fundraiser for Matt Flamm, candidate for Palatine Township Democratic Committeeman, between 4:30 and 7:00 at Emmett’s Brewing Company, 110 N. Brockway St., Palatine. Tickets begin at $50, or $25 for volunteers who commit to at least one phone bank or other campaign activity.

Preckwinkle was elected in 2010 and is running for reelection. Since taking office, she has closed a $487 million budget gap; put the County on track to pay its bills on time for the first time in thirty years; instituted the first performance management system; begun to reduce the County’s huge jail population; and brought efficiencies to the County’s public health system. She reduced the budget by $100 million and repealed the County’s sales tax increase. Preckwinkle appointed a blue-ribbon committee which recently presented a “Next Century Conservation Plan” for the Cook County Forest Preserves.

A longtime Palatine resident, Flamm has been active in many local campaigns including all of Melissa Bean’s campaigns for Congress. Flamm served as a local organizer in President Obama’s 2008 and 2012 campaigns. Sue Walton, who has been Palatine Township Democratic Committeeman since 2002, has endorsed Flamm as her successor.
