Pinterest Class at Palatine Park District

With every catalog produced by the Palatine Park District, a
variety of classes, both old and new, are offered to the community. In the 2013
Fall catalog, a new series of hands on classes will be offered for adults,
featuring projects inspired by the popular social media site, Pinterest.

Pinterest is a tool for collecting and organizing the things
that inspire you. The website allows participants to save, or pin, images to
their virtual bulletin boards. Each image links to the original website for the
subject of the photograph, so users can reference the original recipe,
directions, shopping details, or further information about the pin. According
to Pinterest Class Instructor, Heather Sawicki, “The beauty of Pinterest is that
they have something for everyone and you can always find what you need. “

One of the problems with Pinterest is that many people pin
these great images, and then do nothing with them. That is about to change at Palatine
Park District. Sawicki will be offering two separate Pinterest Project classes
featuring a variety of seasonal projects. The holiday projects scheduled for
the Tuesday, November 5 class include Santa and Reindeer wine bottles and a
mason jar snow globe. The next class will be held on Wednesday, December 11;
watch for project details at www.palatineparks.org. Classes are held from 7pm
to 8pm at Community Center, 250 E. Wood Street, Palatine. The fee each date is
$25 for residents and $31 for non-residents.

Sawicki adds, “If you sign up for Pinterest Project Classes,
you will walk away with a great finished project, directions on how you can do
it at home, and inspiration for other projects I have completed along with gaining
the confidence to DIY at home!” Registration for these classes can be complete
online at www.palatineparks.org, by mail, by fax, or in person at Community Center, Falcon Park
Recreation Center, or Birchwood Recreation Center.
