Olympic and Elite Athletes to Provide Tricks of the Trade to Area Swimmers
(Palatine, IL) – The Blue Marlins Swim Team of Buehler YMCA is pleased to announce they will host a Mutual of Omaha Breakout! Swim Clinic on November 3 at the Buehler YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago (1400 W. Northwest Highway in Palatine). The clinic visits more than 70 cities every year and partners with elite swimmers to provide in-water demonstration and instruction to area swimmers.
2012 Summer Olympian Matt Grevers and Annie Chandler, a NCAA Champion and Pan Pacific Championship Team breaststroker, will lead the four hour stroke technique clinic for 8-18 year olds. Participants may even have the opportunity to test their strokes in a race against the elite swimmers. Grevers and Chandler will be available for media interviews, autographs and photos following the clinic.
As an official sponsor of USA Swimming, Mutual of Omaha actively supports the sport on all levels, from local clubs across the country to the National Team. Registration for the Mutual of Omaha Breakout! Swim Clinic is currently open. To register, please stop by the front desk at Buehler YMCA.
About Matt Grevers
Matthew Grevers is an American international swimmer who competes in the backstroke and freestyle events. He has won a total of sixteen medals in the Olympics, World Championships and the Universidad. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, Grevers won a gold medal for the 100-meter backstroke, a gold medal for the 4x100-meter medley relay and a silver medal for the 4x100 Meter freestyle relay.
About Annie Chandler
Annie Chandler is an NCAA Champion and Pan Pacific Championship Team breaststroker. After winning her first ever individual NCAA Championship in the 100-meter breaststroke in 2010, Chandler went on to finish second in the 100-meter breaststroke at the National Championships, qualifying her for the Pan Pacific Championship Team. Chandler lives and trains in Tucson, Arizona.
