FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

COLUMBIA COLLEGE STUDENTS HOST 22ND ANNUAL JAMMIN’ WITH JANE

Fundraiser to benefit the Northern Illinois Food Bank

Chicago—November 28, 2012—Columbia College Chicago’s Special Events students are hosting a Jammin’ with Jane fundraiser for Northern Illinois Food Bank at Bird’s Nest, 2500 North Southport, December-7, 2012 from 6 - 8p.m. Every dollar donated during for the Jam provides six meals for hungry neighbors in northern Illinois.

Each year, over 60 marketing and communication students come together to plan, promote and publicize a special event fundraiser. The wildly popular Jammin’ with Jane returns this year with live entertainment provided by student connected entertainers:  DJ Subvice, Add-2, A Prophet of Pirates, Justin Ruff, The Intellects and Properfolk.  Tickets include Bird’s Nest’s “world famous wings”, pizza, soft drinks and a raffle ticket.  Guests will be able to bid on a variety of silent auction items donated by local businesses and organizations.  The funds raised will help support a grade school based backpack program that sends food home with students for the weekend. The event is open to the public and the event hopes to raise over $2,000 for the food bank.

“We have raised over $100,000 for more than twenty non-profit organizations in Chicago since I started jammin’ in 1991,” said Jane Canepa, Special Events Professor.  “It’s great to see students produce an event where they can apply skills they have learned to raise funds and do something compassionate for a deserving organization that needs our help.”

“Jammin’ with Jane exemplifies what a community can do to help raise awareness of hunger,” said Pete Schaefer, president and CEO of Northern Illinois Food Bank. “The hard work of the students will help us feed more of our hungry neighbors.”

Tickets are $15 at the door, for more information please visit, jamminwithjane.com or call 312 217-5263(JANE)
