Document Destruction

This service is provided as a courtesy
to residents who have sensitive documents to recycle, such as medical records,
tax forms, bank statements, etc. Documents are loaded into a shredding truck on
site. The paper is then cross-shredded, baled and recycled. Documents must be
brought to the event in either paper shopping bags or cardboard boxes. No
plastic bags please. There is a limit of six file-size boxes or paper shopping
bags per vehicle. Paper clips and staples do not need to be removed, but please
remove binders.

New legislation in Illinois bans
televisions and computer monitors from going into public landfills. SWANCC
contracts with Supply-Chain Services, Inc. (SSI) to responsibly recycle
electronics. Visit the SWANCC site at www.swancc.org
to view a video that shows how your electronics’ hard drives are erased,
demanufactured and processed. Hazardous waste and other unlisted materials will
not be accepted.

Items that will be accepted include: cable
receivers, computers, computer cables, computer monitors, converter boxes, fax
machines, mobile telephones, mouse or keyboards, MP3 players, portable digital assistants,
printers, satellite receivers, scanners, televisions, video game consoles, video
recorders/players, and zip drives.
