Type 1 food struggle

"...we should be doing whatever we can to optimize nutrient intake while minimizing insulin secretion."

Have you ever struggled with what to eat, how to eat or when to eat at any point in your life? Though no one but you can truly know for sure, it is safe to say you have had some sort of struggle. It could have been today, yesterday or three years ago, but considering the volume of information and contradictory research, it can be so difficult and maddening to try to face down all of the unknowns when it comes to your diet. This becomes even more maddening when you are suffering from an Autoimmune disease and your life depends on optimizing blood sugar levels, body fat percentage and inflammation.

The goal of food should be sustaining and optimizing your body and bodily functions. It is just that simple. Do you feel you are doing that with how you are eating? With diabetes, your whole job in life is to make sure your blood sugars levels are in the appropriate range all the time so that you can stave off to remove the possibility for nerve damage, eye dysfunction and any other diabetes related problem. How do we do this?

The answer to that question is that we should be doing whatever we can to optimize nutrient intake while minimizing insulin secretion. The question of the day is how does someone do that? How do you maximize vitamin and mineral intake, ensure adequate protein and fat intake, and still make sure that you are not overproducing insulin and causing substantial body fat gains? The answer is simple. Do not consume food that overproduce insulin and eliminate foods that are of second and third order value. While this logic is sound, and offensively simple, it still does no register the way it should. People need strategies and tools that concisely express what they need to do.
