Where / When: ; 11 a.m.; Saturday, August 27.

Why Go?:  Learn how to drastically cut your grocery bill and buy hundreds of dollars worth of items for only pennies from professional Jill Cataldo.

Pricing: Free admission.

Where / When: , 250 E. Wood St.; 2 - 3 p.m., Saturday, August 27.

Why Go?: Dancers ages 5 and up and their parents are welcome to come to this free dance workshop and open house. Register for Program # 2543-3 at www.palatineparks.org. Space is limited to the first 25 dancers who register. Visit www.palatinedance.webs.com for the Dance Workshop Schedule.

Where / When: Towne Square; 8:30 - 10 a.m.; Sunday, August 28.

Why Go?: All pre-registered participants will receive a t-shirt. Visit www.palatineparks.org for the registration form. The will serve a breakfast of pancakes, bacon, sausage and eggs after the race.

Pricing: $10 in advance; $15 on race day; $5 for family members after the first two members pay full price.

Where / When: , 542 Colfax St., Palatine;  7 a.m. - 1 p.m.; Saturday, August 27.

Why Go?: Visit the 27 vendors who will be selling their farm-fresh fruits and vegetables, organic meats and eggs, cheeses, spices, olives, pickles and much more.

Pricing: Free admission.

Where / When: ; 9 - 10:30 a.m., Sunday, August 28.

Why Go?: Teams of two and four members will take turns racing around the lake looking for vegetables to bring back to shore. Then each team will create something out of the vegetables. All for the title of Big Zucchini. Please register in advance by clicking here.

Pricing: $60 per team, includes kayak rental and personal floating devices.

 

7. Rock Candy

Where / When: Durty Nellie's; doors open at 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26, show begins at 11 p.m.

Why Go? Hear some upbeat dance, pop, rock, '80s and hip hop music by this Chicago-based cover band. Rock Candy wants the audience to be up dancing and having a great time during their show.

Pricing: No cover.
