Snow Expected For Chicago Area

The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook for Cook County Friday.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Cook County.

The advisory is in effect from 3 p.m. to midnight. The National Weather Service is predicting rain that will turn to heavy snow throughout much of northern Cook County.

Some areas of northern Cook County could receive as much as three to five inches of snow.

"Total snow accumulations will vary widely across Cook County," the adivsory states. "Across northern Cook County three to five inches are expected. Amounts will drop quickly to an inch or two in the city of Chicago and under an inch across far southern Cook County."

The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook Friday for the Chicago area warning that some areas could receive up to six inches of snow.

For the Palatine area, the National Weather Service predicts 1 to 3 inches of snow Friday night. Rain is expected in the area before 4 p.m., with little to no snow accumulation. The chance of preciptation for the Chicago area is 100 percent, the National Weather Service stated.

Some areas of McHenry and Lake Counties are expected to receive snowfall of up to six inches.
