Find out what's happening in Palatinewith free, real-time updates from Patch.

Where / When: 1111 N. Rohlwing Rd.; 5 and 7:30 p.m., Friday, September 30.

Why Go?: The sophomores play at 5 p.m. and varsity plays at 7:30 p.m. Come out, cheer for the Pirates and join in the homecoming celebration. The freshman A and B teams play Saturday morning at 9 a.m.

Where / When: 220 W. Illinois Ave.; 10 a.m. - 2  p.m., Saturday, October 1.

Why Go?: Interactive open house for the whole family. Tour the station, enjoy some refreshments. Visit with representatives from the Palatine Police Department and the Palatine Emergency Management Agency. Check out the fire and rescue vehicles and equipment. See a fire behavior demonstration by Mr. Wizard. Fire extinguisher training and vehicle extrication demonstrations too.

Where / When: 1000 S. Quentin Rd.; beginning at 5 p.m.; Friday, September 30.

Why Go?: Fremd High School celebrates its 50th Birthday this year. Cheer on the Vikings as they take on Schaumburg High School. The sophomore game begins at 5 p.m. and the varsity game is at 7:30 p.m.  Fremd alumni will be honored during the annual golf cart parade between the sophomore and varsity football games, at about 6:30 p.m.  The freshman B team plays on Saturday morning at 9 a.m. and the freshman A team plays on Saturday at 10:30 a.m.

Where / When: 1200 E. Twin Lakes Drive; 1 - 4 p.m., Sunday, October 2.

Why Go?: Take a hayride around the lake, listen to live entertainment by Dick Theml and the Alpiners, eat some German brats, German potato salad and much more. Please bring 5 non-perishable food items and receive a pumpkin.

Pricing: Free admission.

Where / When: , 542 Colfax St.;  7 a.m. - 1 p.m.; Saturday, October 1.

Why Go?: Visit the 27 vendors who will be selling their farm-fresh fruits and vegetables, organic meats and eggs, cheeses, spices, olives, pickles and much more.

Pricing: Free admission.

 

6. Mike & Joe

Where / When: Durty Nellie's Pub 180 N. Smith St.; doors open at 9:15 p.m., show begins at 10:15 p.m., Friday, September 30.

Why Go?: Hear live modern rock and alternative rock tunes by Fall Out Boy, Green Day, The Killers, U2 and more performed by Mike & Joe. Must be 21 years old or older to attend.

Pricing: $7 per person.

7. Karaoke at Lamplighter

Where / When: , 60 N. Bothwell St.; Saturday Oct. 1 at 10 p.m.
