Palatine and northern Illinois are under a tornado until 1 a.m. Thursday, July 28, and a flash flood watch until Thursday afternoon.

The National Weather Service has northern Illinois and Palatine under a tornado watch until 1 a.m. Thursday, July 28, and a flash flood watch until Thursday afternoon.

A tornado watch means that conditions are right for a tornado. Also, heavy rain fall is possible in some areas and could produce flooding.

The National Weather Service forecast for Palatine states "Showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 10pm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain."
