Clearbrook Offers Holiday Light Recycling In Palatine

Looking to get rid of old holiday lights? Clearbrook will recycle them and has three drop-off locations.

Holiday decorating time is here, an annual signal that it’s out with the old décor and in with the new.

In anticipation of the hurry to hang lights, Clearbrook is coming to the rescue of local residents who are buried in old bulbs with its holiday lights recycling program.

Available at three convenient drop off locations, Clearbrook’s Old Holiday Lights Recycling program offers the community a more eco-friendly way to dispose of old light strands – even broken ones. Plus, proceeds from sales of the old light strands benefit Clearbrook, which provides programs and services to more than 3,400 children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities as well as their families.

“This is a great way for us to connect with the community come holiday season,” said Carl La Mell, president of Clearbrook. “We’re adding another touch of ‘green’ to everyone’s decorations through the recycling program. It’s easy to just drop off the old lights and go.”

Clearbrook has teamed up with Acme Refining to recycle the old holiday lights. Lights can be dropped off any time between Nov. 21 and Jan. 15 in collection bins located at three Clearbrook facilites, including:
