Man Sentenced for Mailing Pipe Bombs

John P. Tomkins mailed some of the bombs and threatening letters from locations in Palatine and Rolling Meadows, according to the Daily Herald.

John P. Tomkins, 48, was sentenced to 37 years in prison in federal court on Tuesday for sending pipe bombs and threatening letters between 2005 and 2007 to investment firms from Palatine and Rolling Meadows, according to the Daily Herald. 

The letters demanded Navarre Corp. stocks and 3Com Corp stocks — both companies in which Tomkins had financial interest in — go up by a certain date, according to the article. Some were mailed to locations in Naperville and Barrington Hills, according to the Daily Herald.
