Why Go?: Feeding zoo, live entertainment, monster slide, crazy corn maze, children's haunted house, game tent and interactive booths, world's largest tractor, snack bar and much more.

Pricing: $7 for kids 6 months to 12 years old; $2 for everyone over the age of 13 years.

Where / When: ; 7:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday, September 23 and 24; 3 p.m., Sunday, September 25.

Why Go?: Tesser Act Theatre Ensemble presents this musical satire.

Pricing: $12 for seniors, students and children in advance; $14 for adults in advance; $14 for seniors, students and children at the door; $16 for adults at the door.

Where / When: ; 8 a.m. - 1 p.m.; Saturday, September 24.

Why Go?: Try to catch the largest fish and win a prize, enter the raffle for a fishing trip for four from Lucky Dog Charters. Fishing licenses are required for anyone 16 years old or older. Licenses are available for purchase at the Salmon Shop, 111 S. Northwest Highway, Palatine.

Pricing: $3 per person.

Where / When: ; 8:30 a.m.; Saturday, September 24.

Why Go?: 3.1 mile course winds through the Deer Grove East Forest Preserve. All proceeds benefit Bears Care, the official charity of the Chicago Bears. Some former Bears players are scheduled to attend. After-race party with entertainment and refreshments, awards and silent auction.

Pricing: $25 for adults: $15 for anyone age 14 and under.

Where / When: ;  7 a.m. - 1 p.m.; Saturday, September 24.

Why Go?: Visit the 27 vendors who will be selling their farm-fresh fruits and vegetables, organic meats and eggs, cheeses, spices, olives, pickles and much more.

Pricing: Free admission.

Where / When: Deer Park Forest Preserve - Grove #5, 1898 N. Quentin Rd., Palatine; 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., Satruday, September 24.

Why Go?: Annual trade show of the Boy Scouts of America. Full day of exhibits, competitions and demonstrations. Fun for the whole family.

Pricing: Free.

 

7. Circa Survive

Where / When: ; doors open at 6:30 p.m., show begins at 7 p.m., Saturday, September 24.

Why Go? See the band Circa Survive and be a part of their fall tour, Maps & Atlases.

Pricing: $20 in advance; $22 day of the show.
