Holiday Guide: Tree Lighting Starts Holiday Season

Santa, snacks and so much more at the annual event to start off the Holidays in Palatine.

Downtown Palatine will be decked out in holiday cheer Saturday, November 17 for the annual tree lighting at Towne Square. Santa Claus and Mayor Schwantz will host the festivities which begin at 4:30 p.m.

Holiday music will be provided by the Do Re Mi Choir, Treble Choir and Intermezzo Choir and Concert Honors Choirs. Throughout the evening, the Illinois Youth Dance Theatre will be showcasing characters from their annual Nutcracker show. 

Refreshments will be served by Girlscout Troop 42264.

Santa Claus will arrive at Towne Square at 5 p.m. to light the holiday tree. 

After the tree is illuminated, children will have an opportunity to speak and take a picture with Santa.
