Here are this week's top picks for some kid-friendly activities to try this weekend.

We've assembled a weekly calendar of kid-friendly activities and new places to try out with your children. Look for the kids' planner each Wednesday. And, you can help us build the planner with your own suggestions and tips-just add them to the comment box. Over 30 vendors will be selling items at special prices. Support the Lincoln State Cat Club's efforts to promote and preserve the pedigreed cat.

Why Go?: Jump into the freezing cold waters of Twin Lakes Recreation Area to raise money to support Special Olympics and the more than 1200 athletes with intellectual disabilities in North Suburban Cook County.
