Why Go?: Baby Llama, from the book Llama Llama Red Pajama by Anna Dewdney, hosts storytime and a craft program to kick off Children's Book Week. Bring your camera and take your kids' picture with Baby Llama.

Why Go?: Bring the whole family to the Y and go for a swim, check out the playmaze, play some basketball and try out the climbing wall.

Where / When: , J Theatre, 1200 W. Algonquin Rd., Palatine; 7:30 p.m., Friday, April 22 and 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., Saturday, April 30.

Why Go?: ArtReach Educational Theatre presents this musical performed by professional actors and children from the Palatine community. Great family entertainment.

Why Go?: Local high school students put on this entertaining show.

Why Go?: Fly kites in the 7th annual, statewide Flying 4 Kids event and help raise awareness of parks, recreation and the Park District Youth License Plate Program. Free kite kits for the first 50 children, raffles and more.

Pricing: Free

 

 Where / When: Brand Name Consignments, 1150 W. Maple Ave., Mundelein; 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, April 30 and May 1.

Why Go?: Thousands of baby and children's clothing, shoes, coats, toys, equipment, furniture, books, games, movies, maternity items and more. 50% off everything on Sunday.

Pricing: $2 admission for adults on April 30; $1 for adults on May 1; kids always free
