Where / When: ; 7:30 - 9:30 p.m.; Friday, July 22.

Why Go?: Jim Bulanda ... a Tribute to Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin & More will perform on the deck at the Twin Lakes Recreation Area. The free concert is presented by the Salt Creek Park District. Arrive early and enjoy an evening sitting outside, listening to music. Plenty of delicious food and drinks will be available for purchase.

2. 

Where / When: ; 8 - 9:30 p.m., Friday, July 22.

Why Go?: The Rhythm Rockets 7-piece band will perform jazz, jump, rhythm & blues from the '40s and '50s. Get an education in American Roots Music during this entertaining show.

Pricing: Free.

Where / When: ; 7 p.m., Friday, July 22 and Saturday, July 23.

Why Go?:  See amazing independent films from all over the world during this second annual film festival. Call 847-257-3540 for more information.

Pricing: $12 for an individual session; $50 for a festival pass which includes five screenings, a buffet dinner at Emmett's Tavern & Brewing Company on Satruday and the awards brunch on Sunday.

Where / When: , 542 Colfax St., Palatine;  7 a.m. - 1 p.m.; Saturday, July 23.

Why Go?: Visit the 27 vendors who will be selling their farm-fresh fruits and vegetables, organic meats and eggs, cheeses, spices, olives, pickles and much more.

Pricing: Free admission.

Where / When: ; 12 p.m., Saturday, July 23.

Why Go?: Help raise funds for local Vietnam veteran, Bob Kowalski, who had a stroke on July 1 and is recovering at Hines Hospital. Participants will receive a list of questions and will be asked to find the answers on a scavenger hunt at local downtown bars. Answers must be submitted at the Legion by 3 p.m. At that time, a meal will be served and there will be raffles and prizes for correct answers.

Pricing: $10 per person.

 

6. Sixteen Candles

Where / When: Durty Nellie's; doors open at 9 p.m., show begins at 10 p.m.

Why Go? Experience all the great '80s songs performed in full force by these five, fun-loving guys whose style creates a spectacular sound. Must be 21 or over to attend.

Pricing: $7 cover

Where / When: ; 8 a.m. - 4 p.m., Saturday, July 23.

Why Go?: Join the , Wolff's Flea Market and Palatine Journal & Topics for a business expo. About 30 businesses will be promoting their products. The event hopes to encourage people to shop locally and support Palatine businesses. Booth space may still be available for Chamber members. Call 847-359-7200 for more information.
