Child Support Case Against Joe Walsh Resolved

Congressman Joe Walsh was accused by his ex-wife of owing $17,000 in child support.

The has been dismissed.

Walsh's ex-wife, Laura Walsh, accused him of owing $17,000 in child support for their three children now 24, 21 and 17. She said she had been to court several times over the past ten years over the issue.

Joe and Laura Walsh issued a joint statement today, saying they both regret what happened.

"We both regret this public misunderstanding and the effect it has had on our children.  Like many families, we have had our share of issues and made our share of mistakes over the years.  Having resolved these issues together and cleared up these mistakes in private, we now agree that Joe is not and was not a "deadbeat dad" and does not owe child support.  We both have been loving and devoted parents to our children, ages 24, 21, and 17, and are happy to avoid a public legal fight hurtful to our entire family and look forward to caring for our children in private," the statement read.

What has Joe Walsh done for the 8th district? Joe wrote the Department of Agriculture on February 14, 2011, asking for $7,498,015 in cash and commodities contributions for the American Nicaraguan Foundation and Fabretto Children’s Foundation — groups that run education, health and nutrition programs in Nicaragua. Joe, why is it OK to spend millions abroad for education, but not at home? Maybe Joe's confused...thinking next district run is in Nicaragua. What program or project that affects the 8th district directly has Joe been a part of? Why is he more concerned about children in Nicaragua then his own children here in Illinois?

Actually it was over $117,000 in child support that he didn't pay and now that he's running for office again, he finally made a settlement with the stipulation that they would all pretend like he never owed anything, although he does admit there was a payment made. If he expects anyone in this district to actually believe that then he needs some education help himself.
