Harper Getting $100,000 In Scholarships To Train Bilingual Nurses

Alexian Brothers is providing $100,000 in scholarships at Harper College to train bilingual nurses.

Alexian Brothers Health System has agreed to donate $100,000 to Harper College to set up a scholarship program to train bilingual nurses.

Demand for bilingual nurses has skyrocketed, especially for Hispanics, who represent about 15 percent of the country’s total population but only 2 percent of all registered nurses, according to the National Association of Hispanic Nurses.
