Target Applies for Liquor License in Palatine

During Monday night's meeting, Palatine's liquor commission is expected to discuss Target's application for a liquor license at its 679 E. Dundee Rd. store.

The Palatine liquor commission is considering an application from Target to sell alcohol at its 679 E. Dundee Road store.

Target's liquor license application is one of several items on the agenda for Monday night's village council meeting

The big box store is applying for a Class B-2 liquor license, a category that the village created in December 2012 in order to allow Wal-Mart to sell alcoholic beverages. It allows liquor sales at general merchandises and requires there be 50,000 square feet of floor space, in which a maximum of 5 percent is used for alcoholic beverage displays. Other stipulations are that sales can only include beer and wine, and the store has a pharmacy license.

Visit the village of Palatine website to see the full agenda for Monday night's meeting, which takes place at 7 p.m. at 200 E. Wood St.
