Where's the best place in town to get some exercise?

This week, we're asking readers to weigh in on their favorite place in Palatine to work out.

Do you prefer a health club with all of the bells and whistles like or do you like a smaller gym? Perhaps you like to exercise on the trails in the Cook County Forest Preserve?

It’s simple to nominate your favorite place to work out: All you need to do is sign into our site and then comment below with your vote. Feel free to elaborate on why this spot is so fantastic. You can also review the business in Patch's Directory.

The Exercise Coach on Northwest Highway. I work out for 20 minutes twice a week and get better results than I ever did after hours in the gym before. Their state of the art equipment and certified coaches are the best value available. Plus you can experience the first few weeks for FREE!!!!

Midtown is a real community of people who want their fitness experience to be something more that just a workout. It has world class indoor and outdoor tennis and all the latest group exercise classes. Add in a gorgeous outdoor pool, complete with palm trees. No wonder it is called a sports resort!

Midtown in Palatine is fabulous! I am a new member and am loving it!!! Being a group fitness lady I can tell you that the instructors are truly passionate about fitness~ they mix it up, are always smiling...and love to challenge you. The atmosphere is so motivating~ (clean, bright & friendly)... everyday I can't wait to step inside there...it's really been the hi-light of my day since joining:) After a good workout I love going into the locker room and relaxing in the eucalyptus steamroom and then pampering myself with all the lovely beauty products! Looking forward to enjoying the pool there and having a drink out in the sun! Midtown is the gem gym of Palatine! :)

Midtown is easily the best place to be! Top notch / world class fitness trainers, classes and equipment, a racquet sports program that boasts 13 tennis courts and 2 squash/racquetball courts with cutting edge curriculum that leads the way in junior tennis and adult tennis development and the best outdoor pool in all of Chicago!! There is no place like MIDTOWN!

Midtown is also EXPENSiVE and for people who don't have over $120 a month to waste I'm sure would prefer something a lot more reasonably priced! Pretty much anywhere else would be more reasonable than what Midtown charges per month! Palatine Park District and YMCA are far more affordable, relatable and less snobbish than a place like Midtown where you have to take out a second mortgage just to pay the monthly fee!
Stephanie Locascio May 21, 2012 at 05:12 PM
Midtown is more expensive, however for an individual who is passionate about health and is truly dedicated to using it, it is worth every cent! I think $120 is the family rate too. The members and staff are all so friendly, anything but snobby! Did you have an experience that led you to make that statement? Just because it is more expensive, doesn't make the members snobbish..it's just a choice in where you invest your money. Mine happens to be in my health! At Midtown you are paying for highly trained instructors, a clean & motivating atmosphere, a place to self-care and relax, and an opportunity to make new connections...I'd say this stands for all aspects of health~ mind, body, and spirit!
