Local retailers T.J. Maxx and Home Goods will officially be moving, with a plan to open a new store by this summer in the former Linens 'n Things location at 605-689 E. Dundee Road, according to CoStar.com.
Deputy Village Manager Mike Jacobs said the businesses plan to make some minor modifications to the exterior of the building, and will need to obtain building permits.
Otherwise, the space is zoned for retail and a clothing store is a permitted use for the 50,000 square foot space, so beyond building permits, the retailers can essentially move right in.
The new location for the store is in Deer Grove Center, a more than 350,000 square foot shopping center which includes Targer, Dress Barn, Staples, Famous Footwear, Payless Shoe Store, Dominick's and Petco.
The Park Place shopping mall, where T.J. Maxx and Home Goods are moving from, has seen a mass exodus of retailers over the last two years.
They include Play it Again Sports, Fashion Bug, Sara Lee, Tuesday Morning, Wells Fargo and most recently, Jason's Deli.
Whole Foods plans to leave the mall in early March and will be opening a new store in Kildeer.
Jacobs said the village recently met with the owners of Park Place mall and they have seen interest from other retailers, whom are they are in talks with presently.
