Palatine Attorney Deemed 2012 "Super Lawyer"

Matthew Sheahin, a partner at Lavelle Law, will be included on the 2012 "Super Lawyer" list.

Matthew Sheahin, a partner at Lavelle Law, Ltd. in Palatine, has been selected for inclusion on the 2012 Super Lawyer list by Super Lawyer magazine and website, a press release states.

Sheahin is the first attorney from the firm to receive this prestigious recognition.

As described at www.superlawyers.com, Super Lawyers provides a rating service for attorneys throughout Illinois in 70 different practice areas. Nominees are evaluated on their professional success and peer recognition. The process for selecting the Super Lawyers includes independent research along with evaluations from others in the legal profession, the press release states.

According to Sheahin, the honor was enhanced by virtue of having been nominated by a peer. “To be nominated for this type of recognition by my peers, and further evaluated for it by them, adds a great deal of meaning to the designation,” Sheahin stated.

Sheahin’s profile will appear in the February issue of Super Lawyers and can be found online at the Super Lawyers website.

Sheahin, who received a degree in Accounting from the University of Illinois before earning his J.D. from Loyola University School of Law, focuses approximately 80 percent of his practice in matters of corporate litigation.

“Matt has been an integral part of the growth of our firm over the years,” stated founding partner Kerry Lavelle. “He is a diligent advocate for his clients. He listens to their needs and provides outstanding counsel and representation on their behalf.”

Sheahin was made partner at the firm in 2008.

A resident of Wheaton, Sheahin is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, Chicago Bar Association, and Illinois Trial Lawyers Association. Outside his legal practice, Sheahin is involved with the Northwest Regional Advisory Board of Catholic Charities, the Wheaton Chamber of Commerce, and works pro bono with the Legal Assistance Foundation on disabled children's Social Security Income cases.
