About a month into operations in Arlington Heights, the Star Cinema Grill — a new theater that has a bar and offers food service — has gotten mixed reviews from those who have stopped out.

The Daily Herald, in a review published on its website Friday, lauded the new theater for its wide aisles, which provide "plenty of legroom;" excellent sound system; and comfortable seating, reporting that two leather chairs and a desk-like table serve as seating within the theater.

A button on a table is used to alert servers and the Daily Herald reported their waitress was friendly and helpful but said the beer pours were small and the cocktails "a bit week for the price."

On Yelp.com, reviewers provided mixed reviews for the new theater, which is located at 53 S. Evergreen Ave. in Arlington Heights.

One reviewer, Jinah Y. of Mount Prospect, said the food was excellent and praised the atmosphere, service and picture quality.

"This place has completely transformed from the run-down theatre that used to occupy this space," according to Jinah Y's review. "The cheap tickets were nice but it is also nice to enjoy a movie in leather seats, a drink and people at your service."

Other reviewers did not have as favorable of comments for the new theater.

Lesa P. of Arlington Heights posted on Yelp.com that she received"cold and rubbery" popcorn, that her movie began 30 minutes after its scheduled start time and said the servers walking around in the theater was a distraction.

"I think they dug my old popcorn out of the trash from the week before and gave it to me. I don't know how a theater can't produce good or even edible popcorn," according to Lesa P's review. "Needless to say I will not be back. Which is unfortunate because I live walking distance away and was a huge patron of the original theater."
