Republican Organizations Hold Activist and Candidate Training

The Palatine Township Republican Organization (PTRO), the official Republican organization of Palatine Township, is partnering with the Leadership Institute to conduct a training for anyone who is interested in becoming involved in politics or running for office on Saturday, September 21st at Harper College Wojcik Conference Center 1200 West Algonquin Road in Palatine.

“This training is intended for both beginners and more experienced individuals, though beginners should be prepared to take a lot of notes,” said Kevin McGrane, President of PTRO.  “Activist training runs from 8:30 AM until 1:00 PM and costs $30.00.  Candidate training begins at 8:30 AM, continues to 4:00 PM and costs $40.00.  You can get further information or buy tickets at www.palatinerepublicans.org or by calling 847-496-7871.”

Activists will learn how to get involved in their community with local organizations and campaigns, how to hold elected officials accountable, use social media effectively for activism and how to work with the traditional and new media.  I will be sitting on a panel over lunch discussing working with the media.  Candidates will also find out how to communicate effectively, fundraise and how to develop a winning campaign plan.

Attendees will be given resources for continued learning and access to experts for continued advice.  Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to network with their fellow activists and candidates from the area as a way to grow their network and strengthen their team.  Finally, participants will have opportunities to have their questions answered and get one-on-one guidance.

The training will be conducted by experts from the Leadership Institute, a national conservative training organization that has trained more than 123,000 activists and leaders since being founded in 1979 by Morton Blackwell.  The training is sponsored by URF Action & Illinois Review and hosted by the Cook County Republican Party, Palatine Township Republican Organization, Evanston Township Republican Organization, Niles Township Republican Party and Barrington Township Republican Organization.

Founded in 2010 by newly elected Palatine Township Republican Committeeman Aaron Del Mar, PTRO coordinates the Republican Party’s efforts in the township.  Led by Del Mar, President Kevin McGrane and Deputy Committeeman and Executive Director Bebe Sutton, PTRO promotes the foundational principles of the Republican Party, namely fiscal responsibility, personal accountability and limited, transparent government, and works to elect Republican candidates who espouse those principles.

The Palatine Township Republican Organization holds their monthly general meeting on the first Saturday of the month at 9:00 AM at the PTRO office at 839 N. Quentin Road in Palatine.  For further information on the Palatine Township Republican Organization, membership, any of their sponsored events or to join their email newsletter visit their web site at www.palatinerepublicans.org, call them at 847-496-7871 or email them at aaron@palatinerepublicans.org.
