Get a Taste of Ireland at St. Pat's Day Irish Market

When Palatine celebrates St. Patrick’s Day with the “Paint the Town Green” celebration on Saturday, March 15th revelers will have the opportunity to see a little bit of Ireland at the festival’s Irish Market under a tent at Durty Nellie’s at 180 North Smith Street in Palatine.

“We will be giving the community a taste of Ireland at our Irish Market,” said event coordinator, Liz Noe of ElizEvents.  “From 8:00 AM until 1:00 PM the tent in Durty Nellie’s parking lot will become a little piece of Ireland and provide tasty treats and shopping opportunities.”

Paint the Town Green’s Irish Market will feature 15 vendors.  For the Irish at heart, Bead World, Bonker’s Gifts and ChristalMe Rhinestone Apparel will have jewelry, trinkets and embroidered items.  New this year are Real Life Art selling their pottery and Cards by Anna with their greeting cards.  Information will also be available on the Daily Herald, Downtown Palatine Business Association, Lavelle Law, CrimeStoppers and Dr. Gerry Aylward, Chiagoland 4 Braces.

To satisfy the taste buds, Durty Nellie’s will be serving an Irish themed breakfast in their restaurant from 8:00 AM until 10:00 AM and Immanuel Lutheran will be passing out free hot chocolate after the parade under the tent.  Girl Scout Troop 40404 will be selling Girl Scout cookies.  Sweet treats will be provided by Cookie Cards and D’Vine Wine will be highlighting their array of products.  D’Vine Wine will also be sharing information on their new location.

The Irish Market will also provide musical entertainment.  In addition to Irish favorites, there will also be a variety of music throughout the day with Merv Collins and his instrumental guitar music from 8:00 AM until 10:00 AM and Guyz with Bad Eyez performing on their guitars from 10:30 AM until 11:45 AM.  According to Guyz with Bad Eyez, “We do a lot of Gordon Lightfoot and John Prine tunes.  We also mix in some old standards too… like Deep River Blues, The Glory of Love and others.”  The final performance at the Irish Market will feature the Irish music of Dr. Gerry Alyward and Cuchulain from Noon until 1:00 PM.
