Weekend Fun in Palatine

If you are looking for something to do over the next two weekends, there is something for everybody with a pancake breakfast, wine tasting, Dobby Fest and the Chamber's Community Block Party.

If you are looking for something to do over the next two weekends, you have to look no further than the borders of Palatine.  There is something for everybody with a pancake breakfast, wine tasting, Dobby Fest and the Chamber’s ‘Rockin’ the Blocks’ Community Block Party.

The festivities start on Saturday, July 21st from 8:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the American Legion Hall 122 West Palatine Road with their pancake breakfast.  The Legion will be serving “all you can eat” pancakes and French toast.  With the pancakes and French toast, they will serve ham, bacon, scrambled eggs, fruit, orange juice, coffee and milk.

“We want to invite the community to join us for our monthly pancake breakfast which we hold on the third Saturday of the month.  This month we will be honoring nurses and nursing students,” said Garrett McNally, Commander of the Sons of the American Legion.  “We will be holding our breakfast upstairs in our hall.  The breakfast costs $6.00 for adults, $3.00 for children between 6 and 12 years old and children under 5 years old are free.  All nurses and nursing students are free.”

After breakfast, head over to Dobby’s Worldwide Liquors at 15 South Brockway where from Noon until 5:00 PM they will be hosting a free wine tasting.  Dobby’s will be featuring wines from Painted Horse Winery.  Painted Horse's three wines received two gold medals and one silver medal at the 2010 San Francisco Chronicle International Wine Competition.  They will also be serving new wines from Cameron Hughes and 90+ Cellars, and tons of summery whites and reds perfect for barbeques.

Next weekend on Saturday, July 28th is all about outdoor fun with Dobby Fest and the Chamber’s ‘Rockin’ the Blocks’ Community Block Party.

Just down the street from Dobby’s is the Chamber’s ‘Rockin’ the Blocks’ block party in the BMO Harris Bank parking lot at the corners of Brockway and Slade.  ‘Rockin’ the Blocks’ which runs from Noon until 11:00 PM will include live entertainment, food booths, a beer garden and a host of other activities.  Attendees will enjoy stage performances by Jason Picchoitti, lead singer of the band Twenty Over, from Noon until 2:30 PM, Mustache Pete from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM performing classic rock covers followed by the classic rock oldies from Solid Aire until 7:00 PM.  Headlining the evening is the country rock band, Smokin Gunz starting at 7:30 PM.
