Palatine Chamber Looking For Local Artists

The Palatine Area Chamber of Commerce is currently seeking artists interested in participating in their 2011 community art initiative "Chillin' in Palatine."

The Palatine Area Chamber of Commerce is currently seeking artists interested in participating in their 2011 community art initiative “Chillin’ in Palatine."  The event will feature wooden ice chests decorated by local artists on display throughout the Palatine Community from August 21st until Sept. 30.  The ice chests will then be auctioned to the public on Oct. 13.

Artists interested in participating should visit the Chamber website to download a picture of the ice chest and view the event regulations.  Artists should submit a rendering of their design to the Palatine Area Chamber of Commerce.  Designs will be reviewed and artists will be notified of their acceptance no later than June 20.  There is a small stipend available and all artists, professional and nonprofessional, are encouraged to apply.

All selected artists will have until Aug. 21 to complete their ice chest.

“In past years, we have connected with the local art community to create beautiful park benches and Adirondack chairs,” said event chair Liz Noe of ElizEvents.  "We felt wooden ice chests were a perfect compliment and a natural extension for this year.  The talent brought forth by the artists in the community is what really sets this project apart from other community and Chamber events.”

Artists will be recognized with a plaque on their piece, a listing on the “Chillin’ in Palatine” map, and receive a biography in the public auction program book.
