Benevolent Association and Jaycees Host Benefit For Community Support

Fifth Annual Chili Cook Off between the Palatine Fire and Police Departments to be held on Sunday, March 10th.

The Palatine Police & Fire Benevolent Association, with the support of the Palatine Jaycees, are hosting the Fifth Annual Chili Cook Off between the Palatine and other neighboring town’s Fire and Police Departments to be held on Sunday, March 10th from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM at Durty Nellies at 180 N. Smith Street in downtown Palatine.

“Each adult ticket is a $5 donation at the door which includes all-you-can-eat chili, a cash bar, a 50/50 raffle and a live band,” said Palatine Jaycee Kristin Bureta, Co-Chair of the Benefit.  You need not be 21 years old to participate.  This event is open to anyone that wants to help a worthy cause and have some fun.”

All proceeds from The Chili Cook-Off will go to the Palatine Police and Fire Benevolent Association.  Developed in 2007, this association is a non-profit corporation that in the event of a tragedy or hardship will assist members of the community through charitable donations according to Lieutenant Darren Brendts, Co-Chair of the Benefit.

Assisting other associations is just one of the ways the Jaycees give back to the community.  Every year, the Palatine Jaycees conduct numerous programs to serve the community and accumulate funds for operation of the Chapter and community donations.  Included in these projects are the Fourth of July Festival, Christmas tree sales, a sand sale and others, which benefit the community directly and help raise money.

The Palatine Chapter of the Jaycees is one of the nearly 100 local Chapters and one of the largest chapters in Illinois.  The Palatine Jaycees provide individuals between the age of 21 and 40 the opportunity to develop personal and leadership skills while serving their community.
