American Legion holds dinner dance

American Legion holds Spring Fling Dinner Dance on Saturday, May 11th.

The American Legion Family is holding a Spring Fling Dinner Dance which is open to the public on Saturday, May 11th at the American Legion Hall 122 West Palatine Road in Palatine to raise funds for Legion Family Charities.

“We’d like to invite everyone in our community to come out and celebrate Spring at our dinner dance,” said Judy Kyska, American Legion Auxiliary President.  “Dinner will be served from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.  Dancing will begin at 7:30 PM and run until 10:30 PM with music from classic oldies band The Del Souls.”

Tickets are $20.00 for a strip steak or $22.00 to have three jumbo breaded shrimp with your steak.  To accompany your main course, the Legion will be serving a baked potato, salad, roll, buttered corn and dessert.  A service bar will be open at the event and a full service bar will be open in the clubroom.  Tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance from the clubroom bartender.

“We are always looking for new members for the American Legion Family,” said Todd Pearson, Commander of American Legion Post 690.  “If you are interested in supporting those individuals who have defended our country then the American Legion, Legion Auxiliary or the Sons of the American Legion (S.A.L.) is the organization for you.  If you have any questions on the American Legion Family or any of our activities call us at 847-359-1606.”

The American Legion and Legion Auxiliary began in 1919 while the S.A.L. was created in 1932 as patriotic veterans organizations devoted to mutual helpfulness.  These organizations are committed to mentoring and sponsorship of youth programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting a strong national security, and continued devotion to our fellow service members and veterans.
