American Legion holds casino night and fish fry

Palatine American Legion Post 690 holds casino night and a fish fry.

The Palatine American Legion Post 690 is holding a casino night and a fish fry which are both open to the public on Friday, March 22nd at the American Legion Hall 122 West Palatine Road in Palatine to raise funds for Legion Family Charities.

“Come out between 4:00 PM and 10:00 PM, play some poker, some of our other games of chance and have some fun,” said Garrett McNally, casino night Project Co-Chairman.  “For a $5.00 entry fee you’ll be able to enjoy cash games of poker, Blackjack, Texas Hold’Em, Over & Under Dice Roll and Money Wheel in our hall.”

A service bar will be open upstairs for the casino night and a full service bar will be open downstairs in the clubroom.  “Our goal is to make these friendly neighborhood games,” said Matt Christie, casino night Co-Chairman.  “We encourage camaraderie between the players as well as with their dealers.”

“We will be serving fried Pollack dinners from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM for $9.00 for adults and $5.00 for children under eight years old,” said Todd Pearson, Legion Commander.  “The dinner includes fish, soup, tater tots, mac n’ cheese, coleslaw, bread and dessert.  The dinner will be held downstairs in the Legion’s family-friendly clubroom.  A full service bar is available for drinks.”

The most notable of the American Legion’s projects is the annual Memorial Day program.  The program encompasses the parade, the laying of wreaths at two of Palatine’s war memorials and a program at Community Park.  The American Legion, as part of Legion Charities, also conducts bingo for blind veterans several times a year, hosts a Thanksgiving party for sailors from Great Lakes Naval Training Center and brings gifts to veterans during visits to Hines V. A. Hospital in Hines, Illinois.
