The American Legion Auxiliary is holding a dinner and a movie to celebrate Valentine’s Day which is open to the public on Saturday, February 11th at the American Legion Hall 122 West Palatine Road in Palatine to raise funds for Legion Family Charities.
“We’d like to invite all the sweethearts in our community to come out and celebrate Valentine’s Day at our dinner and a movie,” said Judy Kyska, Auxiliary Commander. “The dinner will run from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. At 8:00 PM, we’ll be showing the classic Cary Grant, Deborah Kerr movie An Affair to Remember. All throughout dinner and the movie you’ll be able to purchase raffle tickets for some fabulous prizes.”
Tickets are $15.00 for a 12 oz. strip steak dinner and $18.00 to add three jumbo shrimp to the meal. To accompany your main course, the Auxiliary will be serving a baked potato, salad, mushrooms and onions, corn, rolls and butter and dessert. A full service bar will be open during dinner and the movie. Tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance from the clubroom bartender.
Founded in 1919, The American Legion Auxiliary has almost one million members in nearly 10,500 units. The Auxiliary administers volunteer programs for veterans as well as within the community and is the world’s largest women’s patriotic service organization. Through units located in every state and some foreign countries, the Auxiliary raises money to support its own programs as well as other worthwhile charities.
The Palatine Auxiliary holds their monthly general meeting on the second Thursday of the month except in July and August at 7:30 PM at the American Legion Hall on Palatine Road in Palatine.
