Sheen in Chicago: 'It Was God-Awful'

Palatine resident Mark Janz saw Charlie Sheen's show at the Chicago Theatre Sunday.

Charlie Sheen's Sunday show in Chicago was like being in the largest bar in the world, surrounded by loud drunks and being completely sober, according to a Palatine resident who was in attendance.

"I can't possibly think of a worse way to spend two hours of my life," said Mark Janz, 29, who attended the show with friends.

Janz, who said his ticket cost $130, expected a train wreck of sorts–hey it's Charlie Sheen–but he expected it to be an entertaining train wreck. Instead Janz was bored.

"It would have been better if he had put a gun to my head and just robbed me of the money," Janz said.

Sheen performed in Detroit on Saturday and was booed off the stage. His reception in Chicago was better. According to TMZ.com, the show changed substantially from Detroit. For Janz, however, the changes did not equate to quality.

"It was just so random, with this weird comic asking him scripted questions and people just throwing out T-shirts," Janz said.

Janz said the highlight of the evening came early when a man described by Janz as heavy set and hairy challenged Sheen to take off his clothes. The man and Sheen ended up exchanging shirts.

Janz said he feels "dumb" for having bought a ticket. He said he was intrigued by Sheen's behavior and he had hoped to possibly gain some insight into Sheen's life, find out what the deal is with his behavior and reported substance abuse, or at least get a behind-the-scenes view of what it's like to be someone like Sheen.

Instead, Janz said the crowd screamed nonsensically throughout the show, Sheen referred to himself in the third person and regurgitated "Sheenisms," and it ended with Sheen reading an "incoherent" letter from his girlfriend.

"It was God awful," Janz said.
