Award-winning Theatre Nebula will present the beautiful musical revue Songs for a New World by the brilliant composer Jason Robert Brown for a limited three weekend run beginning March 2, 2012 and running through March 18, 2012. Songs for a New World will be presented Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m., at Cutting Hall Performing Arts Center, 150 East Wood Street, Palatine, Ill.

Theatre Nebula, which was the recent recipient of the Illinois Theatre Association’s Excellence in Theatre award, previously produced last year’s sellout hit Jesus Christ Superstar and the Midwest premiere of Dracula, the Musical.

Jason Robert Brown, the author of the musical stated in a press release, "It's about one moment. It's about hitting the wall and having to make a choice, or take a stand, or turn around and go back." These are the stories and characters of today, the Songs for a New World.

This beautiful musical transports the audience from the deck of a 1492 Spanish sailing ship to a ledge 57 stories above Fifth Avenue to meet a startling array of characters ranging from a young man who has determined that basketball is his ticket out of the ghetto to a woman whose dream of marrying rich nabs her the man of her dreams and a soulless marriage.

With a small, powerhouse cast and a driving, exquisitely crafted score running the gamut of today's popular music, Songs for a New World is a great way to enjoy a night at the theatre.

“I couldn’t image a more outstanding cast. Steve Lugovsky, Colette Todd, April Martinez, and Corey Keane have some of the most beautiful and powerful voices I have ever heard,” stated Theatre Nebula Artistic Director and the production’s Executive Producer, J. Spencer Greene in a press release. He added, “Their interpretations will move you emotionally to tears, make you roar with laughter, and fill your heart with joy.”

According to Song’s accomplished director, Kevin Wiczer, “This show is about one moment in time that changes our lives drastically, and how we choose to deal with those situations presented to us. Each song is one person's story, and each story is connected by the same theme. These songs aren't built on fairytales, but rather, real life. Everything doesn't always come out the way you had planned, but it's how we pick ourselves back up and begin to move forward that shows our true character."
