Downtown Palatine Street Fest 2013 Highlights

A variety of musical entertainment will be showcased for area residents to enjoy, in addition to children's activities and more than a dozen local food vendors.

The yearly end of summer celebration is upon us, and starts at 5 p.m. Friday, August 23. Below are some of highlights of the many events and activities planned.

Ralph Covert of Ralphs World: Saturday, August 24 at 3 p.m. 

In Kids Zone. Ralph’s World is the mega-fun musical planet where kids rock rock rock and dance dance dance to their own and their parents’ delight. It’s the creation of Ralph Covert: indie rocker, songwriter, playwright, and children’s book author

Cherry Poppin’ Daddies: Saturday, August 24 at 10 p.m.

Masters of both extraordinary elegance and bird-flipping fury, Cherry Poppin’ Daddies are indeed the real deal. Ever impossible to pigeonhole, White Teeth, Black Thoughts sees the Eugene, Oregon-based big band pushing themselves to the outer limits of inspiration and invention, resulting in two-count ‘em-two distinctive collections.

Gabriela Francesca: Sunday, August 25 at 2:30 p.m. 

Chicagoland's rising musical sensation, 19-year-old Gabriela Francesca is a singer, songwriter and natural-born performer. As a Palatine native, Gabriela had her start in Palatine community theater and soon signed a contract for professional theater in downtown Chicago at only age 9. She is also the 2013 winner of Suburban Chicago's Got Talent, presented by Metropolis and the Daily Herald. Her music can be found on iTunes, including her newest single "Money Gone."

BritBeat: Sunday, August 25 at 6 p.m. 

America’s Premier Tribute to the Beatles is a theatrical recreation concert celebrating the greatest rock and roll group of all time, The Beatles. They display the same youthful excitement and boyish charm as the original 'Fab Four' to recreate the electrifying performances made by the Beatles when they first came onto the American scene and started the 'British Invasion' and 'Beatlemania'.

7th Heaven: Sunday, August 25 at 4 p.m. 

7th Heaven has charted #1 on the midwest Billboard Charts twice in the past two years. The band has been heard on over 7 radio stations in Chicagoland with their hits "Better This Way" and "Sing".  This year the band welcomes Anthony Fedorov, who is known for being a top 4 finalist on Season 4 of "American Idol".
