Children of Uganda to Perform with Palatine Children's Choir

The music and dance troupe is known for its rapid rhythms, quick movements and sweet songs.

Children of Uganda, an East African music and dance troupe, will perform with the Palatine Children's Choir at 7 p.m. on Feb. 4 at Cutting Hall. Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for adults. All proceeds will go to support education in Uganda.

Hailed as "first rate" and "inspiring" by the New York Times, Children of Uganda's Tour of Light performance features rapid rhythms, quicksilver movements, commanding drums, haunting flutes, funny folktales and sweet songs of joy.

The troupe is comprised of children, teens and young adults age 7 to 21, who serve as ambassadors for Uganda’s estimated 8 million orphaned and vulnerable children (OVCs). Together, they help educate American audiences on the culture of Uganda, promote global awareness of the HIV/AIDS crisis and help raise funds for fellow OVCs in their homeland.

The Tour of Light music and dance troupe has performed at the White House, AIDS benefits chaired by Elizabeth Taylor and Magic Johnson, Grammy Week’s MusiCares benefit honoring U2's Bono, "The Late Show with David Letterman" and "The Sharon Osbourne Show."

Tickets can be purchased online at www.cuttinghall.org.
